The robot dog Spot has been specially developed for agriculture and can, among other things, lead flocks of sheep. Also, this should further promote more efficient and smart work in agriculture.

Agriculture is becoming smarter and more efficient

Almost every profession is currently facing change thanks to the massive advances in technology. This includes digitization and thus the increasing robotization of some professions. Agriculture is day by day smarter and autonomous machines such as robotic tractors are gaining influence. An exciting collaboration is now emerging between the robot manufacturer Boston Dynamics and the New Zealand software company Rocos.

The dog is being replaced by robots

This collaboration not only makes people tremble about their work in agriculture but dogs too. Farmers often use a dog to drive and lead herds of sheep and other animals in a targeted manner. This could now be replaced by the robot dog from Boston Dynamics. With the help of the software from Rocos, the four-legged friend should be particularly useful for farmers. The robot can be a real asset using the latest technologies such as LIDAR, thermal imaging sensors, and a high-resolution cameraSpot, as the robot dog is called, can cope with stony and difficult terrain without any problems and thus control fields and lead entire flocks of sheep.

More efficient work thanks to higher data quality

The spot is individually adaptable and can be synchronized with other smart devices such as drones. Although the robot dog can work autonomously, it is still possible to control it manually and changes can be made. Thanks to the robot dog, farmers can increase the amount of data and improve the quality of the data. Also, abnormalities should be recognized more quickly and thus possible damage minimized.
